Sänk is a street artist born and raised in Southern Estonia. He lives Mehikoorma. He is a soft-spoken and a friendly guy showing the hints of the South Estonian common sense mixed with the “sweet” temper that other true Southerners would certainly recognize.

He has not left the beautiful South, choosing to live in the countryside because he likes peace and quiet. One could say that graffiti, specifically 3D and photorealistic graffiti, is his true calling but he is also doing interior designs, graphical designs and murals.

In his childhood, he was surrounded by art. His grandfather was into photography and painting. His father loved drawing book characters, and would hang the drawings all around the house. Little Sänk’s favorite was a drawing of a short-legged firefighter dog.

Needless to say, the family influence made him pick up the pencil and start drawing for personal pleasure already as a child.

Years passed and he finally found his true calling in 1996 during a trip to Ukraine at the age of 9. He saw an old house covered in graffiti and, in his own words, had a déjà vu moment. This special moment made him realize that street art is something he would like to do for the rest of his life.

From the artistic styles, his main influences are surrealism, photorealism and abstract art. He did not wish to name any specific artists but pointed out that his main role models are from amongst the known graffiti artists.

He is a self-taught artist. However, in year 2000 he felt like taking some art classes. The instructor was his acquaintance, so he let him choose what to do in these classes. Sänk wanted to learn composition, classical drawing and calligraphy (the art of writing).

But here is the question. Is Mehikoorma too small for the talented artist? One can only speculate. Because he contacted Franke through Facebook, wishing to join Slowball and give a sad abandoned car the new look. Taking his art across Estonian borders. Welcome Sänk!

About the Car

Slowball car #33 was bought from Tartu, Estonia. According to our mechanic, the Opel Vectra from 1991 was in the best shape of all Slowball cars at the time of the purchase. Its original color was the good-girl creamy beige. Luckily, Sänk has turned the car into a rock star.

Opel Vectra A – Short History

Opel Vectra A i.e. the first-generation Vectra was released in year 1988, replacing the model Opel Ascona C.

After the launch of Vectra, the car immediately became very popular. The sales numbers increased so rapidly, that the company was struggling to meet the skyrocketing demand which was most likely due to Vectra’s conservative and non-irritating design. Moreover, Vectra’s drag coefficient was 0.29, which was among the best-in-class at that time.

Also, the model was considerably more refined than its predecessor, and the interior displayed higher quality with better features and softer designs. In addition, both, the suspension and the seats were softer in order to ensure a comfortable driving experience.

Although the vehicle had quite a lot of quality flaws, it was still considered superior to Opel Kadett E.

Name “Vectra” has been developed by the computer and, apparently, indicates nothing in any language, being a completely made up word. The name is only similar to vector used in mathematics.
