Been “Slowballed” Before?
Slowball is a road trip visiting different sites and cities in Europe at a slow pace using cars that has seen better days. Key focus is to live and enjoy every day of life and that this can be achieved with a group of friends at a smaller budget. For Slowball the group of friends is actually several groups of friends from different countries giving an opportunity to create new friendships and opportunities, be it cultural experience or for business or just for pure pleasure.
For the trip in 2013 we visited: Tallinn, Riga, Kaunas, Warsaw and Berlin over 5 days, basically a long weekend in September. This the inaugural year we capped the number of participating cars to 15, but in the end only 12 cars were in “driving condition” at the beginning of the trip.
In 2015 the route was: Tallinn, Hiumaa, Saaremaa, Pärnu, Tallinn and the roadtrip lasted 5 days in August from a Wednesday to a Sunday, at this event we capped the amount of participating cars to 18.
Now in 2017 the route is set to be: Tallinn, Helsinki, Turku, Stockholm and Mariehamn between 2nd and 6th of August. We are expecting 20 cars on the road trip.
Slowball has a dual meaning, the word slow can be described as: “at a low speed, opposite of fast.” While ball, or actually the word baller is best described by Urban Dictionary (link to: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=baller )
Art on Wheels!
Slowball Art on Wheels is every artist's dream project.
Art on Wheels!
Slowball Art on Wheels is a unique art marketing project, founded in Estonia, that connects abandoned cars and talented artists. The project takes place for the third time. The previous road trips took place in 2013 & 2015. Year 2017 will introduce new talented artists to the ever-growing and adventurous Slowball family.
The aim of the project is to support local artists by giving them a chance to showcase their artistic skills in an original way - the artists will get a chance to paint abandoned cars. On the other hand, we will get a chance to drive these masterpiece across the borders during epic Slowball road trips.
The artists truly appreciate the chance to get out of their studios, and welcome the opportunity to show their art to even wider audiences.
Whereever we stop Slowball cars, there will be a spontaneous exhibition as people gather around to admire the cars. For some artist, this is their first international experience ever.
